NO. 12                         WATER MILL PRIMARY SCHOOL          07-03-2011

Dear Parents/Carers,

Just to let everyone know that the children have arrived safely at Stansfeld and are looking forward to a great week.

Our School website address is www.watermill.bham.sch.uk  Information about term dates, the school prospectus and newletters are all provided on the website.

We have had a few issues with children discussing other children over social networking sites such as Facebook.  This can cause upset in school so please always be aware of what your child is accessing on their home computers.

Children younger than 13 are not supposed to sign up to a Facebook account.

Well done to all members of our School Choir who took part in the Romany Wood Concert at the Town Hall.  We have since been informed that they helped to raise £5,300 for Birmingham St. Mary’s Hospice.

We sent out details before half term of our joint fundraising with Barnardos.  All funds raised will be split 50:50 with Barnardos and School.  The Bounce Event took place last week so we are now collecting the sponsor monies.

Please be aware we have a number of children with nut allergies in school. Some of these children are very sensitive to even the presence of nuts. We ask parents to help us in not including nuts or nut products in packed lunches.

We remind parents that we have staff on duty in the morning from 8:45 a.m.  No child should be left unsupervised before that time for their safety.

As you know there are a few days coming up when school will be closed.  The Easter holiday runs from Monday 11th April until Monday 25th April (school re-opens at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday 26th April).  School is then closed on Friday 29th April for the Royal Wedding and Monday 2nd May for Bank Holiday.  School re-opens on Tuesday 3rd May at 9:00 a.m.  Unfortunately we then have to close on Thursday 5th May because our school is used as a polling station for the Local Elections.  We are also closed to pupils on Friday 6th May because it is a staff training day.  We apologise that this is very bitty but it is beyond our control.

We have a parent hotline set up for emergency messages e.g. if the weather turns dangerous and we have to close the school. The number to ring is:  08447 70 75 76

You then have to enter the school ID which is: 44681.

If there is no message assume school is open.

Our school uniform consists of a school jumper/cardigan in royal blue, a pale blue or white polo shirt or blouse, dark trousers or skirt and sensible school shoes.  The wearing of headscarves should also be either in plain school blue, black or white.
