NO. 01 WATER MILL PRIMARY SCHOOL 06-09-201
We would like to welcome all our new families to our school, not just those in Reception but also those joining all our other classes.
We also welcome back to Water Mill all our children for a new school year. We hope you enjoyed the summer break and are ready for a new term.
Please remember that children should not be in the playground before 8:45 a.m. They are supervised from 8:50 a.m. if you have to leave early. Children should stand with their parents/carers at the road end of the playground and those children supervised by school staff should stand at the far end. This is not a time for running and chasing games as the playground is crowded and there are buggies and younger children present.
If you wish to speak to Mrs. Dyson about general administration or Mrs. Cheshire about dinner money please wait outside until after the children have gone into class. If you have urgent concerns about a child please see Ms Edginton or see Mrs. Dyson to make an appointment. Teachers cannot see parents at the start of the school day but are available after school at 3:30 p.m. once they have safely dismissed the children.
FRIENDS OF WATER MILL
A group of our parents/carers are hoping to set up a ‘Friends of Water Mill’ group. They are holding a Coffee Morning in Brian’s Barn (the school house) on Thursday 9th September from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Please do try and join them. It is a chance to meet other parents and to welcome newcomers into our school community.
It would be worthwhile for all parents especially for those of new children to check the school prospectus as it answers many common questions about uniform etc.
Please remember that dinner money has risen in price to £9.00 per week. This is payable on a Monday morning and should be sent in with your child in a sealed named envelope. Please try to send the correct money where possible.
Dinners are paid for a week ahead and any absences will be credited. Arrears of 2 weeks mean that unfortunately your child will no longer be able to have school dinners until the debt is paid.
It is possible to pay in advance for the term or half term.
Mrs. McHale is taking maternity leave (her baby is due in October) and Year One will be taught by Miss Collett. Mr. Powell resigned from his post in August and so Miss Hundal will be teaching Year 3. We also welcome Ms R. Hoechen who will be teaching Year 4 on Monday and Tuesday (Mrs. Williams will be teaching them the rest of the week).
There is plenty of school uniform in stock, also please remember that if you placed an order at the end of last term it is now ready for collection.
All items of school uniform must be named.
Please ensure that your child has a coat in school every day even if the weather seems warm.
As you know PE kit must be in school every day. The full list is in the school prospectus. It is very important that it is named as one pair of black pumps or white tee shirt looks just like all the rest!
Unfortunately after many, many years the Local Authority changes mean we must take the children swimming on Thursday mornings instead of our usual Friday afternoons. If your child is swimming this half term you will be receiving a letter tomorrow.
Please remember that if your child is fit to attend school he/she is fit for swimming and PE, unless a GP advises otherwise.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
Term starts tomorrow for all registered children except the new Reception children who will start next week. The club is totally full and there will no longer be occasional spaces. Only in a dire emergency can we accept children who are not booked in.
KS2 children will spend the first hour following age-appropriate activities in the school library before joining the younger children in the house. This session will be led by one of our TAs, Mrs. O’Reilly.
If you have any queries for the administrator, Ms. Joyce please put them in writing and send them in with your child. All ASC staff are busy with the children at the start of the day and verbal messages can easily go astray.
FESTIVAL OF QUILTS
Congratulations to the children in Year 2 who designed and made the ‘Cityscape’ quilt which we were proud to see exhibited at the NEC with quilts from all over the world
There is a lot of information on this newsletter but please read it carefully.
