Ofsted Reports

 

Ofsted visited our school in July 2018. Below are some of the lovely comments they made about our school:

 

  • Children get off to a good start to their time at school because the effective provision in the early years helps them to make good progress.

  • Leaders have a good understanding of their subjects and the key priorities for school improvement.

  • Leadership of the provision for pupils who have special educational needs is effective. Every effort is made to remove any barriers to learning.  This ensures that pupils who have SEN and/or disabilities make good gains in their learning from their starting points.

  • Pupils show very high levels of courtesy and consideration. Pupils are tolerant and respectful of each other and of adults. They talk with understanding about the need to respect other cultures and viewpoints. Leaders equip pupils with a strong sense of values that prepares them very well for life in modern Britain.

  • Pupils said how much they enjoy sport and find lessons fun.

  • The governing body is a cohesive group which works closely with the school’s leaders.

  • Groups of pupils who spoke with inspectors said that they feel safe in the school and that they know staff care for them.

  • The school’s assessments indicate that better teaching is having a positive impact on pupils’ phonic skills.

  • Reading is well promoted throughout the school.

  • Strong relationships are evident throughout the school, as reflected in pupils’ behaviour in lessons. Pupils listen carefully and respond well. They work together cooperatively and help each other.

  • Pupils are a credit to the school. They treat each other with the utmost consideration and ensure that the school makes everyone feel welcome and valued. Pupils new to the school, including international new arrivals and those new to speaking English, are made very welcome and settle quickly. One child remarked, ‘We are all unique and great friends from different countries. We are like the united nations here’.

  • Pupils often display exemplary behaviour.

  • Pupils display positive attitudes to learning.

  • Outcomes across the school have risen in 2018 at the end of Reception, Year 2 and Year 6.

  • Many who join at short notice speak little English. The school works very effectively with these pupils and as a result, these pupils make good progress.
