The trail follows a circuitous route from Water Mill School and takes about 2 hours when walked with children but it can be followed in shorter sections such as around the canal or church areas. Many of the landmarks mentioned have now gone and so the changes in the area since 1976 are evident.

Jenny Edginton and Hugh Wilcock researched it, with the help of 60 Water Mill children between 9 and 11 years old, during 1975 and ‘76.
