Dear Parents and Carers,

We know how much you care about your child’s future—and so do we. Every day in school is a building block for confidence, friendships, and learning. Missing just a day here or there might feel small, but over a year, those days add up—and so do the gaps.

A day off every fortnight = nearly 4 weeks of school missed in a year.
Arriving just 10 minutes late every day = over 30 hours of learning lost (almost a full week in class).

We understand that life happens—family commitments, illness, and other pressures. But when time away from school becomes frequent, your child misses more than lessons: they miss belonging, routines, and important steps in their education.

The law makes sure every child gets the same fair chance, which means we can only authorise absence in exceptional cases. We are required to act when attendance falls—this isn’t about being strict for the sake of it; it’s about protecting your child’s future.
