Our School Day - Opening times and timetables
Water Mill children start school at 8.45 am and the day ends at 3.20pm (3.15pm for Reception and KS1).
KS2 pupils are in school for 32 hours 55 minutes each week and Reception and KS1 children for 32 hours 30 minutes. Reception and KS1 finish slightly earlier each day so that there are not so many parents arriving and leaving the school at the same time.
We offer a before school club - from 7.30am and an after school club - till 5.30pm each day. These must be booked in advance. There are also a variety of after school activities which can be booked. These change each term.
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children have outdoor breaks in the morning and in the afternoon. Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have an outdoor break each morning.
Lunches are served between 11.45am and 1.15pm, with the lunch break staggered so that only 3 classes are in the hall or on the playground during this time.
All classes follow a weekly timetable.
Reading, writing and mathematics are taught daily in all classes.
PE is taught twice per week (one of these may be swimming)
Religious worship (assemblies) takes place daily - this follows a timetable of weekly themes and our school values. The themes reflect the diversity of our school and cover all major religions.
All other curriculum subjects are taught over the course of each term, ensuring that all children receive a broad and balanced curriculum.
At Water Mill we also include a wide variety of additional experiences through external organisations, for example the CBSO, Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Schools Music Service.
Class newsletters are sent home each term with detailed information about the learning that will be taking place. Detailed information is also available on the 'Curriculum' page of this website and on the class pages in the 'Children' area of the website.
